‘Tis the Season to try something different

‘Tis the Season to try something different

‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house,Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse; The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there. Before we nestled the children all snug in their beds,We had to eat and feast, as after all,‘Twas the night before Christmas! Now, we were going away for a few days, so the thought of planning a traditional ‘Réveillon’ was overwhelming. So I suggested we would follow a long-establisehd Jewish tradition and eat Chinese food for Christmas. The kids were confused, so I had to explain. It’s been documented a-plenty that North American Jews have been patrons to Chinese eateries while Christians are celebrating. Cinco de Mayo is coming

Cinco de Mayo is coming

The Waffle Jr. and Mini-Waffle have been talking about Cinco de Mayo for weeks now. Weeks! They even went to recover a couple of piñatas from the basement. They want a fiesta! So I got excited when I received this offer from Mucho Burrito: For $26.95, you get 2 kids and 2 regular burritos for Cinco de Mayo! For $3 dollars more, you can get small burritos instead of the kids size. You also can add chips and salsa for an extra $9. Considering that a kids burrito goes for $6.95, a small one for $8.95, and a regular one goes for $9.95, you’ll save up to $7.85 with this family pack! You are alone? You can get Burrito Boxed Lunch (regular burrito, chips, salsa, canned drink and a cookie) for $12.95, a saving of $4.25! Alas for me, the closest Mucho Burrito is on the other side of the…

Something immediately jumped at me – Unique à Gatineau! Pizza Style Chicago. Oh yeah!!! What a great idea! I’ve had Chicago Pizza a few times and it is a totally different culinary experience. From our last trip to the Wind City, a few of us even discussed the possibility of opening our own Chicago-Style pizzeria in the National Capital region. Since I’m not holding my breath on that ever happening, the fact that someone else had the idea was exciting to say the least. Mrs. Waffle was equally…
